Breathing is important in our daily lives as it is during a massage. When the client breathes deeply, they become aware of their body and feel their body relaxing. The tension from their body flows away. When the client is breathing shallowly, their body may tense up and it becomes harder for the practitioner to help them to release the held tensions in their body.

The next time you get a massage, notice what happens to your body. Is it tense and rigid? Or is it relaxed and sinking in to the table?

What do you notice in your body when you breathe deeply? Does it relax and let go of the held tensions from the areas of the body?
